Step 1
It all starts with the ground
We believe that healthy plants start in healthy soil. To maximize an herb’s potential, we plant seeds in micronutrient-rich soil that is supported by regenerative agricultural practices.
Step 2
Care for and observe each plant
We allow our herbs to flower until the right time to harvest to ensure the purity and potency of each plant. We perform pre-harvest testing in our on-site lab to ensure each ingredient is harvested at its highest potency.
Step 3
Take out the whole plant
Each herb is carefully extracted without harsh solvents or chemicals to preserve its beneficial properties. The result is clean, safe and effective supplements.
Step 4
Test for purity and potency
Every product is tested for pesticides, microbes and heavy metals in our own ISO certified laboratory. Once we are confident that each batch is made to Gaia Herbs standards, they are bottled in our on-site production facility and shipped to you.
Your questions, answered
Are your products organic?
Mush and more sources certified organic ingredients whenever possible. If they are not certified organic, they are ecologically harvested. Ecologically harvested herbs include herbs that are harvested in their natural habitat (i.e. wild harvested). following specific guidelines for harvesting these herbs (i.e. away from roads and industry, as well as guidelines to prevent overfishing) All ecologically harvested herbs must pass pesticide, heavy metal, and microbial testing before being used in our products.
Do you test for pesticides?
Yes. Mush and More tests for purity using an analytical method called Gas Chromatography-Tandem Mass Spectrometry, or GC-MSMS. These tests are used in our extensive pesticide testing program when testing our raw mushrooms.
What is your policy on GMOs?
Mush and More is committed to using and supporting only non-GMO materials. We do not purchase GMO mushrooms and/or ingredients. A thorough purchasing review ensures that we eliminate the possibility of hidden GMOs making their way into our products. All mushrooms grown by Mush and More are certified organic and therefore GMO-free. Our spores, whether they come from our farm or trusted suppliers, are also GMO-free. We will always do everything possible to ensure that our products remain non-GMO.
Do you test for heavy metals?
Yes. Mush and More uses ICP-MS to test for arsenic, mercury, cadmium, and lead. ICP-MS stands for Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry. This instrument is the centerpiece of Mush and More’s heavy metal testing. This powerful technique is capable of detecting a wide range of metals in quantities as small as a nanogram of metal in a gram of sample. With ICP-MS, Mush and More can obtain accurate and sensitive data for all materials at high speed. The plasma vaporizes the sample and ultimately breaks it down to the atomic level. The mass spectrometer can then detect all of the atoms of interest.
